A new Rocket League update is now available for download on Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, as well as official patch notes. At the time of writing, the update had only been released for a little over an hour, and it is currently unknown how large the file size of the update is. To put it another way, we have no idea how long it will take you to download the update. We do, however, know what the update does, thanks to the patch notes that were previously mentioned. The most notable change is that voice chat has been temporarily removed from the game due to the fact that it is not up to modern standards. In order to accomplish this, a new and improved voice chat system is currently being developed, but it will not be ready until early 2022, which presumably means that voice chat will be unavailable in the game for several months. The following are the complete patch notes for the update, which were provided by the game's official website:Chatting on the phoneWith v2.04, we are temporarily disabling voice chat. We are aware that our current voice chat system does not meet modern standards, making it difficult to use in a fast-paced game environment. We are working to improve the system. We're also aware that some players have reported performance issues when using in-game voice chat -- such as lag in the middle of a match or service disruption -- and we don't want voice chat to interfere with the overall quality of the game.Earlier this summer, we stated that we are working on improving and expanding the scope of the Rocket League Blueprints  voice chat system. We expect to reintroduce voice chat to the game in the first quarter of 2022. We'll share more details as we get closer to voice chat making a triumphant return in the new year.Fixed a bug that prevented the PlayStation 5 from supporting 120 frames per second.Players on the PS5 can now play at four different resolutions at 120 frames per second without HDR and four different resolutions at 60 frames per second with HDR.For the game to run at 120 frames per second, compatible hardware (such as an HDMI 2.1-capable 4K/120 Hz display and an HDMI 2.1 cable) is required.Support for 120 frames per second also necessitates the use of the appropriate video settings on your console.
