Seasoning of Cast Iron kadai process is a long overdue video from us. There has been a request to provide information on Zishta cast iron kadai and the traditional process to season cast iron kadai.
Over the last few years, we had traveled & visited many traditional homes in villages and even in cities and had documented oral traditions of how our grand mother's seasoned Cast Iron cookware before use. Though there are many techniques being followed by different communities, we later realised that the 3 Step approach seems to be the most prominent and widely used technique.
The video encapsulates the 3 step technique which involves the following:
Step1: Immerse the cast iron cookware in starch water for a day.
Step 2: Apply mixture of castor oil and turmeric and allow it to rest for a day
Step 3: Wash well, cut onions and fry it in the cookware.
This is the most authentic traditional way to season your Cast Iron cookware. The video is a tribute to the wealth of knowledge which is prevalent in oral form across our country!!!
